Project Overview
Guildhall Shopping Centre combines a modern Shopping Centre with Grade II* traditional architecture. Set in the heart of the centre you will find some of the oldest foundations in the UK, St Pancras Church. This makes Guildhall Shopping Centre the only Shopping Centre in the world to be home a 13th Century Church.
Brief scope of works
Renovation & refurbishment to historic façades, internal alterations to retail units, sub-division of unit 23 to create 3 additional units, creation of 4 residential apartments at 2nd & 3rd floor levels (High Street entrance). Maintaining and protecting the historic Higher Market façade on Queen Street was of the utmost importance during the build. This required careful planning along with the help of specialists who sourced local Portland Stone from a Deconian quarry to restore this historic element. The new dining area and reuse of redundent space has resulted in a hugh increase in numbers visiting the centre whilst longer trading hours have made this a vibrant evening setting. Preserving the beauty and history of Exeter has been expertly handled for the benefit of all that visit.
